Download quality

Applies to every download from here on; existing files aren't affected. Every format is tagged with title, artist, album and cover art.

Only affects downloading one track at a time. Downloading a whole album always uses album folders. Saving as singles keeps one-off tracks searchable by song name in Navidrome/Jellyfin, instead of nested inside a one-track album.

Each download runs yt-dlp and ffmpeg, and firing several at once is the quickest way to get throttled. Raise this only if one at a time is leaving your connection idle.

Library layout

Where downloads are filed under your music directory. Use / to start a folder; the last part is the filename and the extension is added for you.

Tokens: . A token with nothing behind it is dropped along with any separator left dangling, so {track} - {title} on a track with no number gives just the title.

Lyrics

Looked up on LRCLIB, which needs no account. Downloads are never held up by a lyrics miss.

A .lrc carries the timings, so lyrics scroll in Navidrome. Embedded lyrics are plain text and travel with the file.

Download source

YouTube covers far more of the commercial catalogue. SoundCloud is worth switching to for DJ sets, remixes and independent uploads that are not on YouTube, but a good share of its mainstream catalogue is DRM-protected and cannot be downloaded at all.

ListenBrainz

Makes the artist "Download top N tracks" button reliable. ListenBrainz gates that endpoint against scrapers and can reject unauthenticated requests.

Spotify

Lifts the ~50-track cap on Playlists (switches to the official Web API with full pagination). Get these free at developer.spotify.com/dashboard.

Saved credentials are never sent back to this page, so these show as blank once stored.
